People Seeking for God 5 Bread of life

In their search to live, people always had to take care to have enough to eat. Without food we can do not much. Water is the most important element of earth we need to survive. In the coming years that shall be the source where many countries shall fight for. But also the grain to make bread is going to become a problem with the global warming. Without bread people also seem not able to live.

About two thousand years ago there was a strange man, who could do special things and could talk like nobody else. Once that special preacher only had five loaves of bread and two fish but managed to feed a multitude of people. The Jews remembered that their fathers ate the manna in the wilderness and looked at this man who gave them bread from this world but where surprised there did not come an end of giving bread, like this time it also came out of heaven to eat. Jeshua, or Jesus like he is know better today, said unto them

“Verily, verily, I say unto you, It was not Moses that gave you the bread out of heaven; but my Father giveth you the true bread out of heaven.” (John 6:32)

The people there where hungry like today we can still find many who are hungry and thirsty. Many of those who are in need of food are mostly concerned with their daily life and the natural elements around them. Not many of them are busy with the spiritual food.

We should know that just as natural food is vital to sustain physical health we do need even more spiritual food. Our being only exists because are brain is working. As soon as our brain does not function any more we are considered death. The region of our brain as such may be considered as the region of our being what we are. As soon as something goes wrong in the skull or a cerebral hemisphere is damaged, the person can become a total different being.

Mental training is very important for our brain. The food we do have to give it, is not as such material food. The brain-teasers, intellectual exercise is a necessary element for growing into the adult person who can think reasonably well. It does not only needs mathematics but also a daily intake of God’s word to ensure the growth of spiritual well being.

The Lord Jesus likened himself to life-giving bread:

“I am the bread of life…the living bread which came down from heaven. If any man eat of this bread, he shall live for ever: and the bread that I will give is my flesh, which I will give for the life of the world…This is that bread which came down from heaven…he that eateth of this bread shall live for ever” (John 6:48, 51, 58).

It may sound strange to find something which came down from heaven, now not as manna or white flakes, but as somebody who could be seen, touched, bleed and have his bones broken. He spoke about his heavenly Father Who is a Spirit, can not be seen by man or they would die, has no flesh, blood or bones and Who is omnipotent. Somebody Who knows everything and can alow anything to exist or not to exist.

Those who heard that man telling the onlookers he was “the Bread of Life” and that their ancestors ate the manna bread in the desert and died, but that now they could see a Bread that truly came down out of heaven, made some cross.  It looked madness when that man also said that anyone “eating this Bread will not die, ever”.  But every decent man knew that we all shall die. So how could this man claim to be “the living Bread”! — “who came down out of heaven”?

What they did not know is that the worker’s son of Joseph and Miriam (Mary/Maria) was placed in a particular way in the womb of his mother. By the Force of God this man was born. It was decided in heaven by the Most High Creator that the young girl or virgin would be blessed with child, without intercourse. There he stood in the flesh and was speaking about presenting “bread” that came to the world so that people living in that world could eat and live of it and not die. He even saying that he is that bread that he will give to be his flesh, which he will give for the life of the world. At this, the Jews started fighting among themselves:

“How can this man serve up his flesh for a meal?”

But Jesus didn’t give an inch.

“Only insofar as you eat and drink flesh and blood, the flesh and blood of the Son of Man, do you have life within you. The one who brings a hearty appetite to this eating and drinking has eternal life and will be fit and ready for the Final Day.”

Only after he had died and was taken out of dead, his followers started to understand how the flesh of their rabbi is real food and how his blood is real drink. We to should come to understand that this man is the one who can get us to know his heavenly Father, who is the Only One God. By getting to know Christ Jesus and figuratively eating his flesh and drinking his blood we shall be able to enter into him and he into us. This becoming in Christ and like Christ shall not make us to be Christ like Jesus, who was in God was not God Himself, but stayed the son of God, Christ enabled us also to become the children of God and to be a son or a daughter of God.

In the same way that the fully alive Father sent Jeshua to the earth and Jesus lived because of Him, so the one who makes a meal of Jeshua (Jesus Christ) lives because of him and shall be able to come close to Jesus his Father, the Only One God. Jesus said such things while teaching in the meeting place in Capernaum. (see John 6:48-59)

These profound statements caused great consternation even among his followers, some of whom left, never to return. If only they had put aside their own prejudiced interpretation and listened to his simple explanation:

“The words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life” (John 6:63).

The Son of God was the figurative bread from heaven because he spoke the words of God that were the source of spiritual strength and health.

To Abraham a great nation was promised and initially only they were on the lookout for a Saviour sent by their God. Jesus at first, was sent only to the Jews, a fact confirmed by his conversation with the Canaanite woman:

“She came and worshipped him, saying, Lord, help me. But he answered and said, It is not meet to take the children’s bread, and to cast it to dogs. And she said, Truth, Lord: yet the dogs eat of the crumbs which fall from their master’s table” (Matthew 15:22-27).

Remarkably, this Gentile recognized what the children of Israel had failed to see, that here was the antitypical manna. Nothing daunted, she humbly begged for just a few crumbs to fall her way.

The world today also does not recognise that meal for our life. The heavenly bread is not known by many, but those who got to know it should share it with others.

The world should get to know the One Who is behind all what we see around us. In the things we can see and feel we should get to see and feel the Master-hand. All the beauty of nature which science tries to come to understand is incredibly put together in a very smart way people often can not understand.

In seeing all that beauty and recognising what we all may have around us, though we do not deserve it, should make us think. Is it not special that we can have all those things. By which mercy or grace do we earn it?

From the Old Books we get to know that people have made a mess of those things which were given in their hands. god had His Own chosen people, but they often riposted against their Creator. He was so patient with them and so willing to even adapt certain regulations, not having Him the one who changed but having Him changing things for the good of the people. Many lost a good relationship with the Most High Divine Creator. In God’s mercy the Gentiles now have the opportunity to enter into covenant relationship with this God of Abraham through the blood of His son, the Nazarene Jew Jeshua, Jesus Christ or the Messiah.

The essential factor being knowledge of His Will and Purpose and a dedicated attempt at obedience:

“And this is life eternal that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent” (John. 17:3).

Yes it is important to come to know the Only True God. He also has given us many possibilities to get to know Him. There is His Word written down in the Bible or Holy Scriptures. He also has given His son who can bring us to him if we carefully listen to his words and follow his commandments. An unlimited supply of the bread of life is readily available to us but we must hungrily seek it in the word that has been miraculously preserved for our use. If we take the initiative, God immediately responds:

“Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you” (James 4 :8)

  • Wonder Bread (ponderingtheheartofjesus.com)
Have you ever heard of “Wonder Bread?”  For a time it had disappeared from grocery stores, but it is back and making many a peanut butter and jelly sandwich to feed  many people! Good news!  Today, though, a different kind of “Wonder Bread” that feeds many people comes to my mind.  It is said in our Father’s word that there was a believer in Jesus by the name of Stephen.  He was a man full of God’s grace and power and he did great “wonders”  and miraculous signs among the people.
  • Jesus as the Bread of Life in the Book of John (the-scarlet-thread.com)
Early Christians were often accused of practicing cannibalism because they talked about eating Christ’s flesh and drinking His blood. But this refers to our communion with Him by faith. This is symbolized in the bread we eat at the Lord’s Supper. Not only is bread a staple, but Jesus spoke of Himself in this way, as “the bread that came down from Heaven”, to draw His hearers’ minds back to the wandering in the wilderness; to the manna God fed to His people.
  • In a Manger (sherreesblog.wordpress.com)
We know that Mary gave birth in the quiet, dark stable and, having no other option, laid the baby in the manger used to feed the animals every day.
    +
The word ‘manger’ is from the French word meaning ‘to eat.’  In French Bibles, the word for manger is ‘mangeoir’ or a place for eating.  What do you put in a manger? Food.It occurs to me that Jesus is, on some level, food.  John quoted some of Jesus’ thoughts on this in John 6.          Jesus said, “I am the Bread of life.”  John  6:35

    +
Just as we take in food to sustain physical life, we must take in Jesus to sustain spiritual life.  Feeding on Jesus, our daily bread, we fuel a life that will never die, a life that grows more abundant and blessed with every passing day and year.

  • A Prayer A Day – ‘The Bread of Life’ Is All We Need… 1/23/2014 (dailyprayerprayertogod.wordpress.com)
When I was in my late teens I loved to make bread.  I would make cinnamon bread and cheese bread or just plain bread from scratch.  I loved to knead the dough and I loved the smell of the dough with the yeast and it always amazed me when I would set it aside covered with a clean towel and come back later to find that it had risen and expanded and it smelled so good.  There is nothing like the smell of bread in the oven baking.  So the Lord brought all these memories to my mind this morning as I was awaking from sleep. Bread.  When we look up the word bread we find that bread is nourishment, bread is provision and bread is sustenance.  Bread is food or sustenance; livelihood.
  • Desire for Bread (levelupgeneration.wordpress.com)
Food are so important to us that we plan for it in advance. Some people buy in the market their food for one week and some for two weeks. When we get our wages, normally every 15th and 30th of the month, the first thing in our list of priorities is food.
    +
When typhoon Yolanda (Haiyan) hit Leyte, Eastern Samar and some other part of the region, we are all witness of how important food and water is. People there is saying, money is worthless. For them everything is worthless but food and water. People there are willing to kill or be killed for the sake food to eat and water to drink.

Jesus is saying, “I am the bread of life”. We should be hungry for Him everyday. We should desire for Him more than anything else.
  • A Bologna Sandwich or the Bread of Life? (easttexasaglow.net)
Sometimes I wonder if the Church has fed the world a lot of baloney (properly spelled bologna).  In our efforts to be relevant to the culture in which we live, we have packaged Jesus as if He were just so much lunchmeat.  We have dressed Him up, tried to make Him look cute, and diluted the Gospel.   Sometimes we have even added processed cheese to enhance our presentation of Truth!
  • How many calories of the bread of Life are you consuming… (thewearypilgrim.typepad.com)
You see if we really want to feed on the bread of life, this Manna…first we need to pull out our maps and see how far we moved out of Egypt. Or have we just navigated lines across the page in our bibles, and in our minds convinced ourselves we’ve travelled a long way…when in reality we haven’t moved an inch.

How much of my life, am I willing to sell? Do I really want the bread of life to be my daily diet…or is the biggest portion of my diet going to come from Egypt…while I get take out, manna, when I feel desperate. Maybe I’ll feel a twinge of guilt because the wardrobe I’ve dressed my life in won’t fit anymore…and I’ll try the God diet for a few weeks just to get them to fit again.

My child, I sense your hunger to grow. No one who seeks My presence leaves empty. I will feed you, body, soul, and spirit. Come, sit at My feet daily, and we will share together. I’ve baked an abundance of delicious bread you’ve never even tasted. My manna is not of this world, but once you eat it, you will never be hungry again. I will fill you up with Myself.

Jesus is the true bread. He told the crowd, “I am the Bread of Life.” (6:35) But, it requires spiritual eyes to see Him, the hidden manna. To those at Pergamus, Jesus offers the hidden manna to he who overcomes. And unlike the manna in the wilderness, His sustaining power will never cease. For all who come to Him will never hunger and he who believes in Him shall never thirst. (v. 35)

People Seeking for God 1 Looking for answers

People with many questions on their mind

Many people wonder why they live and what the use is of all the troubles they have to endure. Throughout the times many where looking for answers for the reason of their being here on earth and for what they should and could do.

Those who were looking for answers got to know that in the very past there was living an old man who received promises of the One Who is called the Eternal Being and Most High. To the patriarch Abraham this Only One God, Jehovah said:

“(14)  And after Lot had separated from him, יהוה {Jehovah} said to Aḇram, “Now lift up your eyes and look from the place where you are, northward and southward and eastward and westward,  (15)  for all the land which you see I shall give to you and your seed forever.  (16)  “And I shall make your seed as the dust of the earth, so that, if a man could count the dust of the earth, then your seed also could be counted.  (17)  “Arise, walk in the land through its length and its width, for I give it to you.”  (18)  So Aḇram moved his tent, and went and dwelt by the terebinth trees of Mamrĕ, which are in Ḥeḇron, and built an altar there to יהוה {Jehovah}.” (Genesis 13:14-18 The Scriptures 1998+)

Words in a book, given to man

People got to know about the Book of books, the Bible, which many consider the infallible Word of God, given to man so that they could get to know their Creator. One of the most important themes in scripture is the Most High Being and His relation to the creation and the concept of an everlasting kingdom on earth. It is mentioned countless times, from the early words quoted from Genesis through the picture of the New Jerusalem provided in the final pages of our Bibles (Revelation 21:10). It would seem self-evident that for these promises to be completely fulfilled, the heavens and earth themselves must last forever.

Scientists have looked into the future of the heavens and earth with the same keen interest as they have delved into the birth of the universe. Surely the Most High Elohim God could anticipate the findings of science in these latter days and would not leave us without guidance. When the Bible records that His kingdom would be forever we definitely take that to mean without end.

Looking for answers on many questions

“What is the purpose of life? Why am I here? Is this all there is? What is truth and does it really matter?”

Lots of people ask. Many seem to look at the wrong places for the answers.  Some know already where they can find some interesting answers. The answers to all these questions and more are all to be found in one place, our Bible or the Holy Scriptures. In the past it was more common for people to have some awareness of Bible teachings, but nowadays the Bible has been banned in many schools and eliminated from public life in many countries. As a consequence many don’t realize that it is the source of knowledge about the big issues of life, the truths that we all need to know. Our world is suffering from truth decay.

It is not because we know we can find the answer in the Bible that we take the time to look in it. The economical life in the industrialised countries is demanding so much of us that every one of us can get caught up in the busyness of everyday life and forget about the important issues. We can neglect reading the Bible. We can drift away from our beliefs. If we want to know about the best way to live our lives and keep on track, it is so important to read God’s word every day. It is sad that so many, not just in the world, but also in the brotherhood of believers, are not finding time to read their Bibles.

In the Christadelphian Tidings of the Kingdom of God magazine such aspects of our needs and searches is spoken of in the different articles. In the October 2013 article Having Truth Decay? the Christadelphian brother Robert J. Lloyd looks at, the with our free time, interfering situations where we all have a lot of stuff, material goods, that need care, but that we do not seem to find enough time to read the Holy Scriptures. The author points out at the danger of not reading the Bible which skews our understanding of God’s ways and can actually be offensive to God. But we also do have to see that in case those who have found God already, would not find time enough to read God’s Word, how difficult must it be for those who are still searching for God?

Turning our ear to the right direction

David’s son, Solomon, one of the wisest men who ever lived, tells us,

Reflecting God Study Bible

Reflecting God Study Bible (Photo credit: Wikipedia)

“One who turns away his ear from hearing the law, Even his prayer is an abomination,”

which can be interpreted to mean we should not even pray if we do not have time to listen to God.

Have you ever met someone who does all the talking and never lets you get a word in edgewise? Some people are this way with God — they pray all the time but never listen to Him. Their actions speak out that they are not interested in God’s point of view. Solomon’s words imply that God may refuse to listen to us unless we also open His book and listen to Him.

This indicates also that the one who is looking for God does need to give the opportunity to God to come into the picture. The person has to show God that he or she is interested to listen to God and is willing to be interested in God His views, His ideas, His Words. Without giving any thought and time for God His Words it shall be very difficult to find God and to know what God wants for us or has prepared for us.

As a church we say that, “We desire to listen and submit to the Scripture, God’s revealed Word for His beloved children.” There are at least two important assumptions within this statement. The first is that God reveals himself through the Bible. God, being God, is so different from us that anything we know about God must be revealed by God. And though we don’t believe God has showed us everything about himself, as Christians we believe he has revealed enough for us to know him and experience his love and salvation. He has done this most importantly through his son.

Grow strong in weakness

On Pursuing The Passion the author got to see that life is tricky.

In life people may encounter so many loose ends, so many torn relationships that need not be knotted, but resown. {Warning: This Blog Struggles To Form Sense.} We all would like to live in nice places under good conditions, not growing weak, but becoming strong and being noticed.

The writer thinks

Life  itself doesn’t honour us with much in the way of praise for each small accomplishment. Not a lot of checked off boxes.
We usually have to go out of our way to check off those boxes. We usually have to put life on hold to cross off those boxes.

So why so obsessed sweetheart? Why so un-content? {Type/aside}

When we look around us we can find people who had bad luck in their life. There may be many where tragedy struck down and could not have their degree completed. Other may have earned some good title, but suddenly, by accident, they lost everything and have to start live all over again.

It is lovely when such bad luck comes over them that they could consider those previous years of study and work not as a waste because through it all they could be enjoying, embracing, and growing.

No day is a waste. That’s the ultimate goal. But maybe its not so much what you accomplish each day that determines whether or not time has been ‘wasted’, but rather how much you have enjoyed. Working your dream career or as an IHop hostess does it really matter?

This could be a good lesson for us. Perhaps it is not so much what we accomplish each day, what is going to determine whether we succeeded, used our time of being here well, or just wasted our time. Though many of us may waste a lot of time on our way in life, we should be continually looking, but looking for what?

We should spend time in looking for a good way to install ourselves in this world full of friction. We should try to make a “ruwe bolster” or “blanke pit”,a good strong shell. Each person in this world has to make his rough diamond into a shiny strong stone, and not being a soft husk.

Every day we do have to work at our selves. Many Christians who call themselves reborn do think that once they have found Christ, call themselves ‘reborn‘, got baptised, their work will be finished and they will be saved for ever. To my regret, I do have to disappoint them. I do have to tell them they are not yet halfway. They are only at the beginning of a new way, but luckily they have found already the best way to follow. But they should know that there are many deviations on that road as well, and they still might take the wrong turn.

The trick of life does want to lure us and wants to lead us up the garden path. We shall feel the strong winds of the trucks, the heavy lorries we pass, the many persons who want to fool us, deluding us with lovely words and promises. Every day again we shall have to make choices. Over and over again we shall have to make new decisions. It will not end until we do find an end to our life, and than everything shall be finished for us, while the others shall continue their own way.

In case we are not careful and would continuously be worried about what we should do or continue to look back “what we have done” we perhaps will not see the light behind the smog. We shall be so busy “making something of our life” that we may forget living that life. Lots of people do think they might buy time and they might buy their way to a prosperous life.

Time isn’t money. Whatever you don’t accomplish today, you can try again tomorrow, but please just remember to live.

Live today, live tomorrow, see what good happens to you and do not concentrate on the bad things that happened to you. Looking back onto what went wrong shall only make you blind, while you have the fog-lights shining in front of you. Step into the footlights, shine and be happy. Share that happiness while you count your blessings. Do not forget that you are here in this world to be yourself and to develop yourself. Make use of it and let others share you. Be the seed for yourself but also the fertiliser for others.

Know your weaknesses and use them to grow strong.

Don't be afraid to fall

  • Are you weak and in need of God’s strength today? (cappucinosandchaos.wordpress.com)
the good news is that God is looking for weak people.
    +
We live in a performance oriented success driven society, today our culture is self-focussed (perhaps more so than in previous generations), individualistic and independent. In our culture many of us spend the first 20+ years of our life learning how to be independent and rely on ourselves. In this age of “Do It Yourself,” we seem to value the ‘strong ones’ – those people who have the natural stamina and willpower to set their minds to any goal and see it through to accomplishment. We are surrounded by messages, that you can achieve anything you set your mind to. The “Strengths Movement” has spread its own gospel: you only have to determine your areas of strength to be successful in life. And in this day of Facebook and Twitter we are bombarded with self-help news feeds stating ‘you can do it’ Don’t let anyone stop you. Live strong. And from facebook and twitter it looks like everyone has it all together, often because people ‘facebook’ their perfect life, and their online life is the edited, polished version. You see the lovely pictures of someone finishing a marathon, or someone’s holiday or family but you don’t see the stress and the mess and the toddler having a meltdown which is the reality of life. And so we live in this success oriented society.
  • We Are Weak But He is Strong (walkonwaterministries.wordpress.com)
You get one side who always claim to be weak, yet God is so strong and we need Him to do everything. The other side implies that we do not need God because we are strong and we determine our future, but I don’t think either are true.
  • 14 years old Charisma has a beautiful much meaning name which should not bring Bad Luck (charismaivyeverettwhite.wordpress.com) and should bring her a swing-feeling of conquering the world by feeling good, knowing that bad things can happen and can be overcome, so that we can get stronger and can survive through.
  • The Power of a Grateful Heart – Weakness Gratitude (ckisler.wordpress.com) considers that even when we may do a lot of workouts we still can be very weak in our well formed body.

Strength, being strong, being able to “leap tall buildings with a single bound”, having others comment on how strong a person one is, along with beauty, power, riches, etc., we cultivate the importance of being strong.

No amount of strength training, aerobics, Zumba–those three classes about killed me, no matter how many books I read, concerts I attend, memory exercises I complete, no extended Bible study or prayer time will turn back the clock or make me Strong!
  • ~Strength in my Weakness~ (peacefulpromises.wordpress.com)
I don’t have to give thanks for troubles, but I do need to learn from them.  Every challenge we face is an opportunity for growth.  When I choose to wallow in self-pity, I’m wasting the chance to strengthen my faith, increase my endurance and deepen my reliance on God.
  • Where You Are Weak, He Is Strong (lynvgarcia.wordpress.com)
The only way to overcome your weakness is to rely on God’s strength. To do that, you have to stop focusing on your weaknesses. You cannot look at everything you are not. You must look at everything God is. Focus on His strength and all He is willing to do for you.
  • Perfect In Weakness (hackingagag.com)
the sting of conviction. I easily fall into the trap of relying on my own strength and past experience to see me through the next set of trials. A “been there, done that” attitude is often my biggest hindrance. Thankfully, God loves us too much to leave us to ourselves.
    +
A primary qualification for serving God with any amount of success, and for doing God’s work well and triumphantly, is a sense of our own weakness. When God’s warrior marches out to battle, strong in his own might, when he boasts, “I know that I will overcome-my own ability and my self-confidence will be enough for victory,” defeat is staring him in the face.God will not enable the man who marches in his own strength. He who reckons on victory by such means has reckoned wrongly, for “not by might, nor by power, but by my Spirit, says the LORD of hosts.”
  • Weighing in on weakness (catchjohnfischer.wordpress.com)
The strength is imbedded in the weakness. You don’t go from one to the other (otherwise there would be strong Christians over there and weak ones over here – just what we don’t need – a spiritual hierarchy), you experience them both at the same time. That is why Paul says he delights in his weakness, because when he is weak, then he is strong. That’s not a pathway from one to the other. That is the discovery of one In the other.
  • With a Heart so Strong and a Wound so Soft (librettolove.wordpress.com)
I thought that I was going to make a lot of money in my life, but I don’t believe that much any more.  I think I am going to be poor and I am equating that to the reason I hand myself for whenever I don’t get to do something I want in my life – I am worth less than everyone else.  I don’t quite understand why I think this.  I don’t understand why I still think this even though I know it’s untrue.  I want to run away and never hear anyone speak ever again.  I feel like sometimes, I could die and it would be a relief.  All I want is comfort and I can’t quite create a metaphorical blanket large enough to ever feel warm.  I thought that I was going to be successful.  I’ve listened to so many interviews and talked to so many people about how they got to be where they are today, and everyone says that they never expected to have the success that they did.
  • Three Ways to Manage Your Weaknesses (cperky.wordpress.com)
Despite what you may be tempted to say in job interviews, you have weaknesses. In real life, it’s important to acknowledge the things you aren’t good at.Once you’ve taken that hard look in the mirror, here are three things you can do about what you see:
